Here, you may find Some Important Phrasal Verbs with their meanings and examples.

  1. Carry Out: Do a particular piece of work, research, etc. Ex: The building work was carried out by a local company.
  2. Take Over: Take control of something. Ex: Company X is taking over  the smaller company called as Y.
  3. Take On: Employ someone.  Ex: Firm Z taking on new workers at the moment.
  4. Lay Off: Dismiss, usually  for economic reasons. Ex: They had to lay off employees.
  5. Knuckle Down: Start working harder. Ex: It is time to knuckle down.
  6. Hand In: Give something to a person in authority. Ex: She is already handed in her report.
  7. Burn Out: Be extremely tired. Ex: I burned out from job stress.
  8. Knock Off: Stop working. Ex: Let’s knock off early tonight.
  9. Call Off: Cancel Ex: He has called off the meeting.
  10. Slack Off: Work less hard. Ex: Employees often slack off Fridays.
